Hey, everyone! Today I want to share a fun little project I did recently. I made a ceiling light out of a flowerpot. Yeah, you heard that right! It turned out pretty cool, so I thought I’d show you how I did it.
First things first, I gathered all the stuff I needed. This included:

- A flowerpot (obviously)
- A pendant light kit
- A drill
- Some wire strippers
- A screwdriver
- And a light bulb
I picked out a flowerpot that I liked the look of. It was kind of a simple, terracotta one. Nothing too fancy. I made sure it was big enough to fit the light bulb I wanted to use.
Drilling Time
Next, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the flowerpot. This is where the cord for the light would go through. I used a drill bit that was just big enough for the cord to fit snugly.
Wiring it up
Then came the slightly tricky part – wiring the light kit. I followed the instructions that came with the kit, which were pretty straightforward. Basically, I stripped the ends of the wires and connected them to the corresponding wires in the light socket, using the wire connectors from the kit. This can vary by light kit, you just have to make sure you’re following the instructions for the one you have.
Putting it Together
After that, I threaded the cord through the hole in the flowerpot and screwed the light socket into place inside the pot. I made sure everything was nice and tight, no wobbly bits.
Hanging the Light
Finally, I hung the light from the ceiling. This involved screwing a hook into a ceiling joist and then hanging the light from the hook using the cord. I adjusted the length of the cord so the light hung at the right height.
Flipping the Switch
And that’s it! I screwed in a light bulb, flipped the switch, and bam! I had a unique, flowerpot ceiling light. It actually gives off a really nice, warm glow. It wasn’t too hard to do, and it added a bit of quirky personality to the room.
So, there you have it. If you’re looking for a fun, easy DIY project, give this flowerpot ceiling light a try. It’s a great way to upcycle an old flowerpot and create something new and interesting for your home!
