Okay, so I’ve been growing amaryllis for a while now, and they’re usually pretty chill. But lately, I’ve noticed some weird stuff going on with the leaves and bulbs. I figured, “I should probably figure out what’s up before my whole collection croaks.” So, I started hunting for pictures of amaryllis diseases online.
First, I just did a general * in “amaryllis diseases pictures”.

I needed to get more specific, So I started refining my searches, to something like”red spots on amaryllis leaves” and “amaryllis bulb rot pictures”.
My Detective Work
I spent a good chunk of time browsing through pictures. It was kind of gross, to be honest. Lots of mushy bulbs and sad-looking leaves.
- Red spots: I saw a bunch of photos that looked like my plants. Little red blotches, kind of like someone splattered paint on them.
- Soft spots/Rot:I saw a couple bulbs that had those. Some pictures showed total mush, while others had these sunken, soft areas.
I grabbed my phone and took some pictures of my own plants, so I could compare them side-by-side with what I was seeing online.
Putting It All Together
After all this digging and comparing,I feel a bit confident about what’s causing all.I’m going to try some of the remedies I read about,I hope that will work.
I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on my amaryllis from now on. Catching these problems early seems like the key to keeping them healthy and blooming.
