My Little Check on Lake Zurich’s Temperature Today
Okay, so I was thinking about Lake Zurich today. Not necessarily about swimming, mind you, it’s way too cold for my old bones right now, but just curious. You see the lake, you wonder, right? How cold is that water actually?
So, I decided to do a quick check. Didn’t feel like walking all the way down there just to dip a toe in – knew it would be freezing anyway. I just grabbed my phone when I got back home, figured I’d look it up quickly. Took me a little bit, poking around some local info sites. You know how it is, sometimes the simple info is buried a bit.

Eventually, I found it. Bam: 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
Yep, 45°F. Just as I thought. Absolutely frigid. Makes you shiver just thinking about it. I remember reading somewhere that for comfy swimming, you’re looking at something like, I don’t know, high 70s? Maybe 78°F to 85°F? So yeah, 45°F is basically ice water in comparison. Definitely not swimming weather unless you’re one of those hardcore winter swimmers.
- Checked online for the current temp.
- Found the number: 45°F.
- Confirmed: Too cold for normal folks!
It’s a bit of a shame because Zurich’s lake water is actually known for being really clean. Come summertime, it gets warmer, much nicer. People are out swimming, relaxing by the water. It’s a whole different vibe. But for now? Yeah, it’s just cold. Good to know the actual number though. Satisfied my curiosity for the day.
