My Little Experiment
So, we were trying, you know. Trying for a baby. Felt like forever, really. You start looking into all sorts of things, anything people mention. Someone, can’t remember who, maybe online, maybe my auntie, mentioned flowers. Yeah, flowers for fertility. Sounded a bit hippy-dippy to me at first, honestly.
Did a bit of asking around, reading bits here and there. Some folks talked about lilies, others roses. Said they were symbols of motherhood, new starts, that sort of thing. Made sense, I guess. But then I kept seeing stuff about orchids.
Orchids Kept Popping Up
Yeah, orchids. Apparently, they’re big on the fertility symbol list. Love, charm, all that. What caught my eye though, was someone saying they are really allergy-friendly. Good for indoors. My place gets stuffy, and the missus has hay fever sometimes, so that sounded practical.
Getting The Flower
Decided to give it a go. Felt a bit daft walking into the garden center looking for a ‘fertility flower’. Just picked out a nice looking orchid, a white one. Didn’t tell the checkout lady why I was buying it, obviously. Just acted normal.
Took it home. Found a spot for it in the bedroom, actually. Right on the dresser where we’d see it. Seemed like the right place, somehow.
Looking After It
- Watered it every week, like the little tag said.
- Made sure it got some light, but not too much direct sun.
- Wiped the leaves sometimes.
It became a little routine. Didn’t think it would magically solve anything, don’t get me wrong. Wasn’t expecting miracles from a plant. But looking after it, seeing it there… it was kinda nice. Felt like doing something positive, you know? A little bit of hope sitting there on the dresser.
Things eventually worked out for us, thankfully. Took time, like these things do. But yeah. Kept the orchid, still got it. It’s flowered a few times since. Just a nice reminder, I suppose. Didn’t cost much, didn’t hurt trying. That was my little dance with the ‘flower of fertility’. Just a small thing I did along the way.
