Is scissor cutting better than clippers? Discover the benefits for your hairstyle.

Okay, so today was about getting some scissor cutting done. Nothing fancy, just needed to practice a bit, you know, keep the hands busy.

Getting Started

First thing, I had to actually find my scissors. Always seems like they walk off, right? Dug around in that junk drawer for a bit. Found a pair, not the best, kinda sticky, but they’d have to do. Then I grabbed some plain paper off the printer stack. Didn’t bother with anything special.

The Actual Cutting

I didn’t really have a plan. Just started cutting. I folded the paper first, thought maybe I’d try one of those snowflake things. You know, cut little triangles and shapes along the folded edge. Holding the scissors felt a bit awkward at first. My cuts were jagged. Trying to do curves? Forget about it. The paper kept buckling, and the sticky scissors weren’t helping.

Here’s what I did then:

  • Slowed way down. Realized I was rushing it.
  • Tried holding the paper differently, turning the paper instead of twisting the scissors so much.
  • Focused on making small, deliberate snips, especially on the fiddly bits.

It got a little better. Still not great, mind you. Had a few moments where I almost snipped right through a part I wanted to keep. Had to really pay attention. It’s funny how something simple like cutting paper takes more focus than you think.

Finished… Sort Of

So I unfolded it. Look, it wasn’t gonna win any awards. Kinda lopsided. Some edges were rough where the scissors snagged. But hey, it was… something. A piece of paper with holes in it, basically. But I did it. Went through the motions.

Main takeaway? Need better scissors. And maybe more patience. It’s simple, yeah, but doing it well takes practice. Definitely felt good to just sit and make something, even if it was just a wonky paper thing.
