DIY Succulent Stand with Shade Sheet: A Simple Guide

Alright, let’s talk about them succulent stands with shade sheets, you know, the things for your little plants. I ain’t no expert, but I’ve been around plants long enough to know a thing or two.

First off, what in tarnation is a succulent stand, you ask? Well, it’s just a little somethin’ to put your succulents on, ya know? Like a shelf, but fancier. And a shade sheet? That’s just a thingy to keep the sun from frying your plants to a crisp. Sun’s good, but too much sun ain’t good for nothin’, not even them tough little succulents.

Now, you can go and buy one of them fancy stands, already made and all. But if you’re like me and like to save a penny or two, you can make your own. It ain’t rocket science, I tell ya. I seen my grandson do it, and he ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

  • You get yourself some wood, any kind will do, long as it’s sturdy.
  • Cut it up into pieces, however big you want your stand to be.
  • Nail ’em together. If you ain’t got nails, screws will work too. Just make sure it don’t fall apart, you know?

That’s your stand, see? Simple as pie. Now for the shade. You can use all sorts of things for a shade sheet. Some folks use them fancy acrylic sheets, but I say, why spend the money when you don’t have to? I’ve used an old piece of cloth, a bit of tarp, even a flattened-out cardboard box. Just make sure it’s big enough to cover your plants and that the rain don’t make it soggy, unless you want soggy plants, which I don’t think you do.

You got your stand, you got your shade, now how to put it all together? Well, it depends on what kind of stand you made. If it’s like a table, just put your shade over the top, like a little roof. If it’s more like shelves, you might need to rig up somethin’ to hold the shade up. Use your noodle, you’ll figure it out. I used some old wire and some clothes pins, worked like a charm.

Why do you need a succulent stand with a shade sheet anyway? Well, like I said, too much sun ain’t good. And them succulents, even though they like the sun, they can still get burnt. Especially if you live in a place where the sun beats down all day long, you know, like them desert places. The shade sheet keeps them cool and comfy, like a nice hat on a hot day.

And the stand? Well, it just makes things look nicer, doesn’t it? Keeps your plants off the ground, away from the critters and all. And it makes it easier to water them too, you ain’t gotta bend down so far. My back ain’t what it used to be, so I appreciate not having to bend too much.

Making your own stand, it ain’t just about saving money, though that’s a nice bonus. It’s about making somethin’ with your own two hands, somethin’ that’s yours. And it’s about making a nice home for your plants. They ain’t just plants, you know, they’re little bits of life, and you gotta take care of ‘em.

So, go on, get yourself some wood, some nails, and a bit of somethin’ for a shade. And make yourself a succulent stand with a shade sheet. Your plants will thank you for it, and you’ll have somethin’ pretty to look at, too. And if you mess up, well, who cares? It ain’t the end of the world. Just start over, or don’t. It’s your stand, your plants, your rules.

And one more thing, don’t forget to water your plants! Even with a shade, they still need water. Just not too much, you know. Succulents are like camels, they can store up water for a while, but they ain’t bottomless pits.

Alright, I think that’s about all I got to say about succulent stands and shade sheets. Go on now, get to work!
