Need to Repot Your Aloe? Best Soil & Pot Size for Aloe Plant.

Okay, here’s my blog post about repotting my aloe plant, written in a casual, personal style:

So, my aloe plant was looking kinda sad. You know, droopy, and the pot was way too small. It was definitely time for a bigger home! I’ve been putting it off, but today was the day.

Getting Started

First, I gathered my stuff. Needed a new pot, obviously – I picked one that’s a couple of inches bigger in diameter than the old one. Also grabbed some potting mix, the kind that’s good for succulents and cacti, because aloe likes well-draining soil. And my gardening gloves, of course, gotta protect my hands from any pokey bits.

The Dirty Work

  • I put on the gloves and went outside.
  • I gently squeezed the sides of the old pot to loosen up the soil.
  • Then, I carefully tipped the plant sideways and pulled it out. Some of the soil came with it, which is fine.

The roots were pretty packed in there, all circling around. I gently teased them apart a little bit, just to encourage them to spread out in the new pot.

New Home, Sweet Home

Next, I put a layer of the new potting mix in the bottom of the new pot. Just enough so that the aloe would sit at the right height. I placed the aloe in the center, and then started filling in around the sides with more potting mix. I patted it down gently, making sure the plant was nice and secure, but not too tightly packed.

Finishing Touches

Once it was all filled in, I gave it a good watering. I let the water drain out the bottom, that’s how you know it’s got enough. And that’s it! My aloe looks so much happier already. It’s got room to grow, and hopefully, it’ll be thriving in its new pot. I think I did a pretty good job, not gonna lie.

I put it back in its sunny spot on the window, I guess that’s all. I will wait and see.
