Okay, here’s my blog post about my “flowering plants purple” project:
So, I started this whole thing because I wanted more color in my garden, specifically purple. I’ve always loved how vibrant purple flowers look, and I figured, “Why not give it a shot?” I went to the local garden center – you know, the one down on Elm Street – and just wandered around.
Getting Started
First.I grabbed a few seed packets that caught my eye.
- Lavender
- Petunias
- Salvia
I wasn’t really sure what I was doing, to be honest. I just picked the ones with the prettiest pictures on the front. Then I found some starter plants – little guys already sprouting. I got some of those too, figuring they might be easier than starting from scratch.
The Planting Process
Back home, I dug some holes in my garden bed. It was harder work than I expected! The soil was pretty packed down. I followed the instructions on the seed packets and the little tags that came with the starter plants. Some said “full sun,” some said “partial shade,” so I tried to put them in the right spots. I sprinkled the tiny seeds in, patted the soil down, and stuck the starter plants in their holes.
Then came the watering. I used my old watering can, the one with the little rose head. I gave everything a good soak, hoping I wasn’t drowning them. Honestly, it felt like a bit of a guessing game.
Waiting and Watching
The next few weeks were all about waiting.
I checked on the garden every day, sometimes twice a day. I was looking for any sign of growth, any little green shoots popping up. Some days, I saw nothing, and I got a little discouraged. But then, one morning, I spotted it – a tiny lavender sprout! I was so excited, I think I actually did a little dance.
Slowly but surely, more and more plants started to appear. The petunias were the fastest, followed by the salvia. The lavender was taking its sweet time, but hey, at least it was growing!
The Blooming Begins!
And then came the blooms and so beautiful.
It was amazing! The petunias exploded with color – bright, vibrant purples. The salvia had these tall, elegant spikes of purple flowers. And the lavender, even though it was smaller, had the most beautiful, delicate blooms. I felt so proud, like I’d actually accomplished something.
My garden went from being kind of plain to having these gorgeous pops of purple all over. It was exactly what I wanted, and it all started with a simple trip to the garden center and a little bit of hope.
