Low Light Indoor Tall Plants: Create a Green Corner, Even Without Sun!

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to add some greenery to my living room, but it’s kinda dark in there. I did some digging and found out about “low light indoor tall plants,” and figured I’d give it a shot. Here’s how it went.

My Low-Light Plant Hunt

First, I hit up a few local nurseries. I just told the folks there what I was looking for – something tall, that could handle not getting a ton of sun. They pointed me to a few options, which was super helpful.

  • Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata): These things are apparently indestructible. Super easy to take care of.
  • ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia): Another tough one. Can basically survive in a closet, I heard.
  • Cast Iron Plant (Aspidistra elatior): The name says it all, right? This plant is a survivor.
  • Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema): This one had some cool patterns on the leaves, which I liked.

I ended up going with a Snake Plant. It was a good size, looked healthy, and the price was right. Plus, I liked the straight up the leaves.

Bringing It Home and Setting It Up

Getting the plant home was no problem. Just a short car ride. Once I got it inside, I found a spot in the corner of my living room. It’s not totally dark there, but it definitely doesn’t get direct sunlight.

I already had a pot that I thought would work, so I just transplanted it and gave it a good watering, making sure the water can leak out. That’s pretty much it!

Keeping It Alive (Fingers Crossed!)

So far, so good! I’ve had the Snake Plant for a few weeks now, and it seems to be doing okay. I’ve only watered it once since I brought it home, since I read they don’t like to be overwatered. Seems happy so far.

I’m pretty stoked with how it looks. It adds a nice touch of life to the room, even without a ton of light. I’ll try to give you guys an update on the condition of my plants next time!
