Buy Golden Building Shovel? Compare Prices & Find the Best One!

Yesterday, I decided to try and make a “golden building shovel,” just for fun. I had this image in my head of a shiny, ridiculously over-the-top shovel, and I figured, why not?

Getting Started

First, I grabbed a regular shovel from my garage. It was old, rusty, and had definitely seen better days. Perfect for a makeover! I also went to the local craft store and picked up some gold spray paint, some glitter (because, why not?), and some strong adhesive.

The Messy Part

  • I laid down some old newspapers in my backyard to avoid making a golden mess everywhere.
  • Then, I started spraying the shovel head with the gold paint. It took a couple of coats to really get that solid gold look. I had to wait for each coat to dry which felt like an eternity.
  • While the paint was drying, I mixed some of the glitter with the adhesive. I wanted a subtle sparkle, not a full-on glitter bomb.

Adding the Sparkle

Once the gold paint was completely dry, I carefully applied the glitter-adhesive mix to the edges of the shovel head. I used a small brush to get it just right. I wanted it to look like gold dust, not like it had been dipped in a glitter vat. I had to do it carefully because the adhesive was so sticky!

Finishing Touches

After the glitter had set, I gave the whole thing a final coat of clear sealant spray. I wanted to make sure all that gold and glitter stayed put. This took a while to dry, too. Patience is not my strong suit, honestly.

The Result

Finally, it was done! It looked… surprisingly good. I mean, it’s still a shovel, but it’s a golden, sparkly shovel. It’s completely impractical, of course, but it made me laugh. I took some pictures and showed it off to my friends. They thought I was crazy, but in a good way, I think.

Would I recommend this project? Sure, if you have some time to kill and want a good laugh. It’s messy, a bit silly, but definitely a unique way to spend an afternoon.
