About fertilizing: should you cut your grass before?

Okay, so I’ve been getting into lawn care lately, trying to get that perfect green look. One question that kept popping up was: “should you cut your grass before fertilizing?” I did some digging and decided to try it out myself. Here’s how it went down.

Getting Started

First things first, I needed to get my lawn ready. It was looking a little shaggy, definitely not at its best. I read somewhere that mowing before fertilizing helps the fertilizer get down to the soil better, so that was the plan.

About fertilizing: should you cut your grass before?

The Mow-Down

I grabbed my trusty mower and set it to a lower setting. I remember reading it should cut * I aimed for around 1 to 1.5 inches, I didn’t want to scalp it, just give it a good trim. I went over the whole lawn, making sure to get an even cut. It felt good to see the grass looking neater already.

Time to Fertilize

With the mowing done, it was time for the main event. I loaded up my spreader with some fertilizer . I made sure to follow the instructions on the bag for the right amount – didn’t want to overdo it and burn the grass.

Spreading It Out

I walked at a steady pace, making sure to cover the entire lawn evenly. It was kind of satisfying, like I was giving my grass a good meal. I made sure to overlap my passes a little bit to avoid any missed spots. I am watering it well.

The Waiting Game

Now comes the hard part: waiting. I watered the lawn thoroughly after spreading the fertilizer, like the instructions said. This helps it soak in and get to the roots.I’ll have to keep an eye on it over the next few weeks to see how it responds. But so far, so good! I’m hoping for a thicker, greener lawn in the near future.
