Okay, so I’ve been messing around with houseplants for a while now, and I wanted to figure out the best temperature situation for my white anthurium peace lily. I mean, I love this plant, but I didn’t want to accidentally kill it by putting it in the wrong spot.
My Experiment with Temperatures
First, I grabbed my trusty little thermometer – nothing fancy, just one of those basic ones you can get anywhere. I wanted to see what temperatures my plant was actually experiencing throughout the day.

I started by putting the peace lily in my living room, which is usually pretty bright, but it doesn’t get direct sunlight blasting in. I noticed the temperature in there stayed pretty consistent, usually hovering around 68-72°F (20-22°C). The plant seemed pretty happy there, the leaves looked good, and it even put out a new flower!
Then, I got a little curious. I moved the plant to a slightly cooler spot, near a window that doesn’t get much sun. The temperature there was a bit lower, more like 60-65°F (15-18°C). I watched it carefully for a few days. It didn’t seem to hate it, but it definitely didn’t look as perky. The leaves seemed a little…droopy.
- Living room (bright, indirect light): 68-72°F (20-22°C) – Plant was happy and flowering!
- Cooler spot (near a shaded window): 60-65°F (15-18°C) – Plant looked a little droopy.
I even tried putting it outside on my porch for a very short time, just to see what would happen. It was a warm day, around 75°F (24°C), but even that seemed a bit much for it. I think the sudden change was a shock.
So, after all this moving around, I put the peace lily back in the living room. It just seems to thrive in that consistent, warmer temperature range. I figure keeping it between, say, 65°F and 75°F (18-24°C) is the sweet spot. I don’t let it get too cold, and I definitely avoid any sudden temperature swings.
It’s still doing great! I’m no expert, but this is what’s worked for me and my peace lily. Just keep an eye on your plant and see how it reacts – they all have their own little personalities, I swear!
