Okay, here’s my blog post about my experience with a 2-gallon plastic watering can:
Alright, folks, let’s talk about watering cans. Specifically, the 2-gallon plastic kind. I recently grabbed one, and I figured I’d share my whole process, from start to finish.

The Shopping Trip
First things first, I needed a watering can. My old one, a tiny metal thing, was just not cutting it anymore. I have way more plants now! So, I headed out to the local hardware store. I wandered around the garden section, checking out all the options. There were fancy metal ones, small ones, big ones…and then I spotted it: a simple, green, 2-gallon plastic watering can. Perfect!
Getting Down to Business
Back home, I filled that bad boy up at the outdoor faucet. It’s a good size – not too heavy, not too small. I liked that it has two handle, it made it easier to carry with two gallons of water in it. I also tested the water spout, it’s not bad and the water stream is good.
Watering the Plants
I use two handle to carry the can to the plants.
The spout is good, and no water will come out unless I tilt the can.
- Started with my thirsty tomatoes. The 2-gallon capacity was great because I didn’t have to keep refilling it constantly.
- Moved on to my flower boxes. The rose head (that’s the shower-head-looking thing) provided a nice, gentle spray, which is perfect for delicate flowers.
- Finished up with my hanging baskets. I appreciated the long spout, which made it easy to reach those high-up plants without getting water everywhere.
The Aftermath
After I was done, I emptied any remaining water and gave the can a quick rinse. I stored the can in my garage, away from sun light. I found it to be lightweight and pretty easy to clean.
Overall, I’m happy with my 2-gallon plastic watering can. It’s simple, it works, and it gets the job done. No complaints here!
