Okay, so today I want to talk about side dressing corn with dry fertilizer. I got up this morning, had my coffee, and headed out to the field. It was a beautiful day to get some work done.

Getting Started

First, I gathered all my tools and materials. I made sure I had my tractor ready, the fertilizer spreader filled up, and, of course, the dry fertilizer itself. I always double-check everything because there’s nothing worse than getting out to the field and realizing you’re missing something.

Prepping the Field

Before I could start applying the fertilizer, I walked through the rows of corn to get a good look at the plants. I was checking their height and color, making sure they were growing well. Today everything looked good, nice and green, and about knee-high. It’s a good feeling to see your hard work paying off.

Applying the Fertilizer

Next, I fired up the tractor and attached the spreader. I set the spreader to the right flow rate – you don’t want to dump too much or too little fertilizer. It’s a bit of a balancing act, but I’ve done it enough times to have it down.

I started driving the tractor down the rows, making sure the spreader was distributing the fertilizer evenly alongside the corn. I went slow and steady, no need to rush this part. It’s important to get it right.

Checking My Work

After I finished a few rows, I stopped to check my work. I got off the tractor and inspected the ground to see where the fertilizer had landed. It looked pretty good, a nice even spread right where it needed to be. So I hopped back on and continued with the rest of the field.

Wrapping Up

Once the whole field was done, I cleaned up the spreader and put everything away. It was a long day, but a productive one. Seeing the fertilizer in place, I knew my corn would be getting the nutrients it needed to keep growing strong.

Final Thoughts

Side dressing corn with dry fertilizer is one of those tasks that feels really good when it’s done. It’s not the most exciting work, but it’s crucial for a good harvest. I always enjoy the process, from start to finish. And honestly, there’s something satisfying about driving a tractor through the fields on a nice day. Knowing I’m doing what’s needed to make sure we have a good crop makes it all worthwhile. Plus, the corn is gonna love it!

Anyways, that’s how my day went. Hope you found this little rundown interesting. It’s all about those little steps and making sure the job gets done right. Until next time, happy farming!
