Wandering Jew Repotting: Common Mistakes to Avoid (Learn from My Experience)

Alright, so today, I decided it was time to give my Wandering Jew a little more room to grow. It’s been in the same pot for a while now, and honestly, it was starting to look a bit cramped. Plus, I figured a fresh pot of soil couldn’t hurt, right?

First things first, I gathered my supplies. I got a new pot that’s just a bit bigger than the old one – nothing too crazy. I also made sure I had some fresh potting soil on hand. Oh, and of course, my trusty gardening gloves, because who wants dirt under their fingernails?

Next, I gently took the Wandering Jew out of its old pot. I was careful not to yank it out or anything. Just loosened the soil around the edges and gave it a little wiggle. The roots were pretty tightly packed in there, so I took a minute to carefully untangle them a bit. I did see a couple of them are rotten already, and I did need to cut it off with my scissors.

  • Fresh potting soil
  • Gardening gloves
  • Scissors

Then, I put some fresh soil in the bottom of the new pot, placed the plant on top, and filled in around the sides with more soil. I made sure not to pack the soil down too much. Just enough so that it could stay in place firmly.

Finally, I gave it a good watering. Not too much, though! I know overwatering is no good and can cause the roots to rot. Just enough to make sure the soil was nice and moist. It’s important to keep it hydrated, but not soaking wet, you know?

The Result

And that’s it! My Wandering Jew is now happily settled in its new home. It looks so much happier already, and I’m excited to see how much it grows in the coming months. I’ll be keeping an eye on it to make sure it’s doing okay. Fingers crossed it thrives in its new pot!

We all know how to do this kind of stuff, right? But I just wanted to keep a record and share my little gardening adventure with you all. It’s these little things that make me happy. I restrained myself from buying a bigger pot. I know that this one is enough for it.

Hope you enjoyed this little story! Let me know if you have any tips for caring for Wandering Jews – I’m always looking to learn more!
