I saw this picture of a really cool plant stand online the other day, and I thought, “Hey, I can totally make that!” So, I decided to give it a try and build a nest plant stand for myself. I love a good DIY project, and this one seemed pretty straightforward.

First things first, I gathered my supplies. I already had some scrap wood lying around from a previous project, so that was a good start. I also needed some screws, wood glue, sandpaper, and a stain to give it a nice finish. I don’t really know the exact type of wood I was going to use but it doesn’t matter since I have a lot of them, I just need the right size and shape.

I started by cutting the wood into the right sizes. I wanted to make a stand with three legs and a circular top. I used a saw to cut the wood and cut the pieces to fit the design I imagined. Nothing fancy, just some straight cuts.

Building the Base

  • After cutting, I took the pieces for the legs and started assembling them. I wanted the legs to splay outwards a bit for stability.
  • I used wood glue to attach them to each other and form a tripod-like base.
  • Then, I used some screws to make sure they were really secure. This part was a little tricky, making sure the angles were right, but I managed to get it done after a few tries.

Making the Top

  • For the top, I used a larger piece of wood. I drew a circle on it and carefully cut it out.
  • I’m not great at cutting perfect circles, but I did my best.
  • After cutting, I sanded down the edges to make them smooth and round.

Once the top was ready, I attached it to the base. I centered it as best as I could and used both glue and screws again to secure it. It felt really sturdy, which was a relief.

The last step was finishing. I sanded down the entire stand to get rid of any rough edges. Then, I applied a dark wood stain that I thought would look nice with my plants. I let it dry overnight, and it turned out better than I expected! I’m not an expert or anything, but just see it as an amateur.

The next day, I placed a couple of my favorite plants on the stand, and it looked great! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s got that homemade, rustic charm that I love. Plus, it was a fun project to work on, and now I have a unique piece for my home.

I will try to do other things in my spare time, and share with you guys. See you next time!
