Okay, here’s my story about repotting some succulents.

So, I decided it was time to repot my succulents. They were getting a little crowded in their old pots, and I figured a new home would do them good. First, I gathered all my supplies. I got some new pots, a bag of special succulent soil, and my trusty gardening gloves. Oh, and of course, my succulents!

Prepping the New Pots

I made sure the new pots had good drainage. You know, succulents don’t like to sit in water. I picked out some nice clay pots with holes at the bottom. Then, I filled them up with the succulent soil, leaving some space at the top for the plants.

Getting the Succulents Ready

Next, I took my succulents out of their old pots. I was real careful not to damage the roots. I gently tapped the sides of the pots and eased the plants out. I brushed off most of the old soil from the roots, just to give them a fresh start.

The Repotting

Now, for the main event. I placed each succulent in its new pot and filled in around it with more soil. I made sure they were snug, but not packed in too tight. Then I gave the soil a little pat down.

To Water or Not to Water

Here’s the big question: do you water them right after repotting? I usually wait a few days. Here’s my thought: it gives the roots time to settle in and heal from any damage during the move. They’re a bit shocked from the repotting, you know? It’s like us moving houses. It takes time to feel at home.

Waiting Game

  • So, I placed my freshly repotted succulents in a bright spot, but not in direct sunlight.
  • And I waited.
  • After a couple of days, maybe three or four, I gave them a little drink.

I use a watering can with a thin spout, so I can aim the water right at the base of the plants. But one day I thought maybe I should use drip irrigation, because I heard it extends watering times for plants and prevents soil erosion. I haven’t tried it yet.

And that’s it! That’s how I repot my succulents. They seem pretty happy in their new homes. I’ll keep an eye on them, and hopefully, they’ll grow big and strong.
