Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with my plants a lot lately, and I gotta say, pruning is a game-changer. I used to just let my plants do their thing, you know? But then I started noticing some of them were looking kinda sad, all leggy and stuff. That’s when I decided to try this whole pruning thing.
First off, I grabbed my floral pruning shears. These things are great, they’re made just for plants, with a curved blade that makes it easy to get a clean cut. Then, I started by just looking at my plants real close. I wanted to see which parts were looking kinda dead or were just growing all over the place.

The basic idea is to cut off the parts that aren’t doing so great. This way, the plant can put its energy into the healthy parts and grow even better. So, I started snipping away at the dead leaves and stems. I made sure to cut right above a node, that’s the little bump where a leaf or branch grows out. This helps the plant heal better and grow new stuff.
Steps I followed:
- Inspect the plant: I gave my plants a good once-over, looking for any dead, damaged, or overcrowded parts.
- Start small: I began by removing the obviously dead or dying bits. It’s better to take off too little than too much at first.
- Make clean cuts: Using my trusty shears, I made sure to cut at a slight angle, just above a node. This helps prevent disease and encourages new growth.
- Step back and assess: After making a few cuts, I’d take a step back and look at the overall shape of the plant. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t taking off too much from one side.
- Thin out crowded areas: For plants that were getting too bushy, I thinned them out by removing some of the inner branches. This helps with air circulation and light penetration.
Honestly, at first, it felt kinda weird cutting off parts of my plants. Like, I didn’t want to hurt them. But after a while, I started to see the difference. The plants I pruned started looking so much healthier and happier. They were growing new leaves and even flowers like crazy!
So yeah, pruning is definitely something I’m gonna keep doing. It’s like giving your plants a little haircut, and they love it! Plus, it’s kinda therapeutic for me too, just being out there in the garden, taking care of my plants. If you haven’t tried pruning yet, I totally recommend giving it a shot. Your plants will thank you!
