Using 5 Blade Scissors for Herbs: Easy Tips and Tricks You Need!

Alright, so I got these 5-blade scissors the other day, right? I saw them online and I was like, “Whoa, five blades? That’s gotta be handy for cutting herbs and stuff.” I mean, I’m no chef, but I do like to cook, and chopping herbs with a regular knife is a pain. So, I ordered them, and they arrived pretty fast.

First thing I did was try them out on some fresh basil. I grabbed a bunch from my little herb garden, washed it, and patted it dry. Holding the scissors felt kinda weird at first, like, they’re a bit heavier than regular scissors. But I got the hang of it.

Using 5 Blade Scissors for Herbs: Easy Tips and Tricks You Need!
  • Snip, snip, snip! I started cutting the basil, and it was kinda cool how quickly it got chopped up.
  • Uniform cuts. All the little pieces were pretty much the same size, which is, you know, nice for presentation and stuff.

But here’s the thing, cleaning them was a real chore. Bits of basil got stuck between the blades, and I had to use a toothpick to get them out. I tried washing them under running water, using a brush, even tried to shake them dry – but some little herb pieces always got stuck. It was a bit annoying. Maybe I should only use it to cut dry herbs.

Then I tried them on some green onions. Same deal, they cut them up real fast, but again, cleaning was a hassle. I had to use a small brush to scrape the pieces out. Plus, I noticed the blades aren’t that sharp. Like, they cut, but not as smoothly as I expected. I also tried it on sage, and oregano, the result was the same. I realized that I probably can’t sharpen them, which is not ideal. It’s only handy for small amounts of herbs, and it made me think that maybe a knife is better for big amounts.

So, yeah, these 5-blade scissors are okay. They do the job, especially if you’re only cutting small amounts of herbs. But the cleaning part is a drag, and the blades could be sharper. If you want to cut a bunch of herbs, they actually aren’t very efficient, and cleaning between each blade is super tedious. I guess I’ll keep using them for now, but I’m not sure if I’d buy them again. Maybe it’s just me, but I think I still prefer a good old knife for most of my herb chopping needs.
