Cannabis repotting tips and tricks. Learn from experienced growers now!

Okay, so today I want to talk about something I recently did – repotting my cannabis plants. I’ve been growing these babies for a while now, and it was time to give them a bigger home. Let me tell you, it’s not rocket science, but there are a few things you gotta keep in mind to make sure your plants stay happy and healthy during the process.

First things first, I gathered all my supplies. I got some bigger pots – gotta give those roots room to grow, you know? And of course, I got some fresh soil. I like to use a good quality potting mix that’s specially made for cannabis, but any good soil with good drainage will work. Oh, and don’t forget some water! You’ll need that later.

Getting ready to repot

Before I started digging up my plants, I made sure they were well-watered a couple of days before. It just makes the whole process easier and less stressful for the plants. When the day came, I chose a nice, shady spot to do the repotting. No one wants to be doing this under the scorching sun, not even plants.

The actual repotting process

  • I gently removed the plants from their old pots. This is where you gotta be careful not to damage the roots. I usually squeeze the sides of the pot a bit to loosen the soil, and then carefully tip it over while supporting the base of the plant.
  • Once the plant was out, I inspected the roots. If they were all tangled up and circling around the bottom of the pot, I gently loosened them up a bit. This helps them grow out into the new soil.
  • Then, I put a layer of fresh soil in the bottom of the new pot, placed the plant on top, and filled in around the sides with more soil. I made sure not to pack the soil down too hard – you want it to be nice and airy.

Aftercare

After all the plants were in their new homes, I gave them a good watering. This helps settle the soil and gives the plants a much-needed drink after all that moving around. Then, and this is a trick I learned from another grower, I kept them in a dark place for about 24 hours. Sounds weird, I know, but it really does help them recover from the stress of repotting.

After that, it was back to their usual spot under the lights. I kept a close eye on them for the next few days, just to make sure they were adjusting well. A little extra attention goes a long way, especially after a big change like repotting. They perked up pretty quickly and started growing like crazy in their new, bigger pots.

So, that’s my cannabis repotting story. It’s a bit of work, but totally worth it to see your plants thrive. Trust me, if I can do it, you can too! Just remember to be gentle, give them some space to grow, and a little TLC after the move. Happy growing, folks!
