Where to buy a flowerpot tree? Check out top places for quality plants and easy care guides!

Today I wanted to share how I made a really cool flowerpot tree, and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I already had some flowerpots lying around, but you can get them pretty much anywhere. I saw an ad for Walmart having a sale on them, so maybe check there. I also needed some plants, obviously. I didn’t know what kind to get, so I just grabbed a bunch that looked nice together. Lively Root has a lot to choose from if you want to get them delivered. I’ve heard The Sill is good too, but I haven’t tried them myself.

After I had my pots and plants, I started by picking out the biggest pot for the base. I figured it would be the sturdiest that way. Then, I filled it with some soil. You want to make sure the quality of the soil is decent so your plants can thrive. Next, I took a slightly smaller pot and placed it upside down on top of the soil in the base pot. This is going to be the start of our tree trunk.

I kept repeating this process, filling each upside-down pot with soil and then stacking a smaller one on top. It’s kind of like building with blocks, but way more fun. I made sure each pot was centered and felt pretty stable before adding the next one. It’s important to note that the design of the pots matters for this project. You’ll also want to consider if you want drainage holes or not. I used pots without them since I didn’t want water leaking everywhere.

Once my “trunk” was as tall as I wanted it, I started planting. I carefully put my plants into each pot, making sure they had enough room to grow. I tried to mix up the colors and textures to make it look interesting. I’m no plant expert, but it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself! I even used some of the smaller plants to fill in the gaps between the pots, making it look fuller.

After all the planting was done, I gave everything a good watering. I made sure not to overdo it, though. Then, I stepped back and admired my work. It looked awesome! I put it out on my patio, and it’s been a real conversation starter. It’s not quite a Rooted or Horti level gift, but I think it’s perfect for me. It doesn’t have to be complicated to add some life to your space.

  • Collect your flowerpots and plants.
  • Fill the largest pot with soil and place it as the base.
  • Stack smaller pots upside down on top of each other, filling them with soil to create the trunk.
  • Plant your chosen plants into each pot, mixing up varieties for visual appeal.
  • Water the plants thoroughly.

Honestly, anyone can do this. Whether you’re a plant newbie or a seasoned pro, this project is a fun and easy way to add some greenery to your life. I’m already thinking about making another one, maybe with different colored pots next time. If I can do it, you definitely can! Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.
