Hadeco Amaryllis Care After Flowering: How to Care and Get it to Rebloom Quickly!

Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure with a Hadeco Amaryllis. You know, those big, showy flowers that just brighten up a room? I got one a while back, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey figuring out how to keep this beauty happy.

So, first things first, I planted this bulb in a pot. Nothing fancy, just some regular potting mix. I made sure the pot had good drainage because I heard these plants don’t like to sit in water. I placed the pot in a corner of my living room where it gets plenty of indirect sunlight. I read somewhere that they like it warm, around 70 degrees or so, to really get going.

Hadeco Amaryllis Care After Flowering: How to Care and Get it to Rebloom Quickly!

I started watering it, just a little bit at first. As the leaves started to appear, I upped the watering, making sure the soil was moist but not soggy. After a couple of weeks, I began giving it some plant food. I just used a regular liquid fertilizer, nothing special. I figured it needed a little boost since it was growing so fast.

The Waiting Game

Then came the waiting game. I kept watering and feeding it, and finally, I saw the flower stalk start to emerge. It was so exciting! It felt like forever, but eventually, those big, beautiful blooms opened up. It was totally worth the wait.

After the Bloom

Now, here’s where I had to do a little more research. What do you do with it after it’s done blooming? I learned that you’re supposed to cut off the spent flowers and the stalk. So, I got my garden shears and snipped those off.

  • I kept watering it, about once a week.
  • I also made sure it was still getting plenty of sunlight.
  • I read that you’re supposed to let it keep growing its leaves because that’s how it stores energy for the next bloom.

Then summer rolled around, and I moved it outside with my other plants. I was careful not to put it in direct afternoon sun because I heard that can burn the leaves. We don’t want that! It seemed pretty happy out there, just soaking up the sun and growing more leaves.

So, that’s where I’m at now. I’ll probably bring it back inside in the fall. And start the whole process again. Hopefully, I’ll get another beautiful bloom next year. It’s definitely a learning process, but it’s so rewarding to see these plants thrive.

If you’re thinking about getting an Amaryllis, I say go for it! They’re not too hard to care for, and the flowers are just stunning. Just be prepared to give them a little TLC, and they’ll reward you with a spectacular show.
