- Winter: My area can get as low as 20°F, so I brought my palm inside. I placed it near a window, but not too close, you know, to avoid those cold drafts.
I did some digging online, and most sources say these palms can tolerate down to about 35°F. Some even claim they can survive a dip to 20-25°F, but I wouldn’t risk it. Mine definitely showed signs of stress when it got close to freezing. I noticed some of the fronds started to brown a little. It’s like they were saying, “Hey, it’s getting too cold for me!”
Experimenting (a little)
Now, I didn’t go full-on scientist and expose my palm to extreme cold on purpose. But there was one time I forgot to bring it in before a cold snap. The temperature dropped to around 32°F overnight.
