Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another DIY project! Today, we’re turning a plain old flowerpot into a funky lamp. Yeah, you heard that right, a lamp made from a flowerpot. It’s easier than you think, trust me. If I can do it, anyone can.
So, first things first, I grabbed a flowerpot from my shed. It was just sitting there, collecting dust, you know? I picked one that was big enough to fit a light bulb but not too huge. Then I gave it a good cleaning. You don’t want any dirt messing up your lamp’s vibe.

Next, I needed to make a hole in the bottom of the pot for the cord to go through. I used a drill for this, but be careful if you’re using one too, okay? Safety first, folks. I started with a small drill bit and then worked my way up to a bigger one until the hole was just the right size.
- Get a flowerpot.
- Clean it up.
- Drill a hole in the bottom.
After that, it was time to wire up the lamp. I bought a lamp cord kit from a hardware store. It had everything I needed: a cord, a socket, and a plug. I followed the instructions that came with the kit, and let me tell you, it wasn’t rocket science. Just connect the wires to the socket, easy peasy.
Once the wiring was done, I threaded the cord through the hole in the flowerpot and screwed in a light bulb. And guess what? It worked! I plugged it in, and boom, instant light.
But I didn’t stop there. I wanted to give it some personality, you know? So, I grabbed some paint and went to town. I painted the flowerpot a bright blue because why not? You can paint it any color you want, or even add some cool designs. Let your creativity run wild!
And there you have it, folks! A flowerpot lamp that’s totally unique and made by yours truly. It’s a fun little project that adds a bit of charm to any room.
What I learned
Honestly, the hardest part was drilling the hole without cracking the pot. Just go slow, and you’ll be fine. Other than that, it was a breeze. It is a great way to get a U-Shaped lamp if you want one. I’m pretty stoked about how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and that’s what counts. So, if you’re looking for a fun and easy DIY project, give this a try. You might surprise yourself with what you can create! Until next time, peace out!
