Alright, let’s talk about this here… uh… flowerpot lamp thingy. I ain’t no fancy city gal, so don’t expect no big words from me. I’ll tell ya what I know, simple and plain.

First off, they tell me this lamp, this flowerpot thing, was made by some fella named Verner Panton way back in 1968. That’s a long time ago, even before my old man started losing his hair! They say he made it for them fancy restaurants and shows. Well, I ain’t never been to no fancy restaurant, but I reckon a lamp’s a lamp, right?

Now, how you get this here lamp to shine? It ain’t like them old oil lamps we used to have, no sir. This one’s got a little hole on the bottom, and you stick a wire in it. They call it a “micro USB cable,” sounds fancy, but it’s just a wire to me. You plug that wire into somethin’ that gives it power, and boom! Light! They also say you can buy a battery for it, if you don’t want to keep it plugged in all the time. Handy, I guess, if you ain’t got no place to plug it in.

And get this, when it’s chargin’ up, a little red light comes on. Like a little firefly, blinkin’ at ya. Ain’t that somethin’? They say it shines all around, 360 degrees they call it. Means it lights up the whole room, I reckon. But you can’t make it dimmer, it’s just one brightness. Shame, sometimes you just want a little bit of light, you know? Like when you’re tryin’ to sneak a midnight snack without wakin’ the old man.

Then there’s this other lamp, they call it the “Lotus Lamp.” This one’s real strong, 100 watts they say. And you can make it brighter or dimmer, which is nice. They talk about some fancy “diecast heat-sink” and “thermal management” stuff. Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me. I guess it just means it don’t get too hot, which is a good thing, I reckon. Nobody wants a lamp catchin’ fire, that’s for sure. Oh, and they say it can handle water and dust, “IP-65” they call it. Good for folks who like to leave their lamps outside, I guess. Not me though, I keep my things nice and safe indoors.

  • So, the flowerpot lamp, the old one, is pretty and lights up all around.
  • The Lotus lamp is strong and you can make it brighter or dimmer.
  • Both need electricity, but one you can use with a battery too.

Now, they were talkin’ about some store, “Heal’s,” sellin’ these lamps and other things for Christmas. And they were havin’ a sale, 15% off they said. That’s a good deal, I reckon. But I ain’t buyin’ no lamps for Christmas, I need that money for more important things, like flour and sugar. Gotta make them Christmas cookies, you know.

They also mentioned an address, “196 Tottenham Court Road”. That’s probably where that fancy store is. Way too far for me, I ain’t never even been on a bus, let alone goin’ to some fancy street in the city.

Anyway, that’s all I know about these here lamps. One’s old and pretty, one’s new and strong. They both make light, and that’s all that matters, right? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
