And look at this one. See the stalks? They got these dark spots all over ’em. That ain’t natural, no sir. That there is what they call, uh, rot, I think. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I’ve been around bamboo my whole life. My old man, he used to say, “Bamboo needs three things: sun, water, and good dirt.” And he was right, you know. You gotta make sure your bamboo gets plenty of sunshine. It was always sunny when I was a little girl. And water, well, don’t let it dry out, but don’t drown it neither. Just keep the dirt, what do you call that? Moist. Yeah, keep the soil moist, like a good piece of cornbread. These new homes are small. People don’t have yards. Fixing Sick Bamboo
Now, if your bamboo does get sick, don’t you worry. There’s still hope. First thing you gotta do is figure out what’s wrong with it. Is it the blight? Is it the rot? Is it somethin’ else? Once you know what you’re dealin’ with, you can start to fix it. These bamboo diseases photos sure show many different problems. It is hard to tell.
If it’s the blight, you gotta get rid of them bad leaves. Just pinch ’em off or cut ’em off with some scissors. And then you gotta spray the plant with, uh, somethin’ to kill the sickness.
