All purpose fertilizers for beginners: Everything you need to know
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

This here all purpose fertilizers, they sure are somethin’. Make the plants big and strong, just like my grandson, bless his heart. He’s a good boy, helpin’ his grandma with the garden and all.

Now, these fertilizers, they got all kinds of stuff in ’em. Like, uh, nitrogen, that’s a big one. Makes the leaves green, like a summer field after a good rain. Then there’s this phosphorus, makes the roots strong, like an old oak tree. And, uh, somethin’ called potassium. Yep, that’s it. Keeps the whole plant healthy, like eatin’ your veggies every day.

All purpose fertilizers for beginners: Everything you need to know
  • Nitrogen, good for green.
  • Phosphorus, good for roots.
  • Potassium, good for everythin’.

They say got these other things in there too, like calcium and magnesium and some sulfur. Sound like fancy words to me, but they say the plants need ’em, just like we need our vitamins, I reckon. And tiny little bits of other stuff, like iron, like my old skillet, and somethin’ called zinc, and copper, like those old pennies. And cobalt! And chlorine, that what we use to keep the water clean. And manganese! All in these fertilizers.

So, you gotta feed your plants, just like you gotta feed your chickens if you want eggs. Spring and summer, that’s when they’re growin’ the most, like a weed after a spring shower. They say you can give ’em a little somethin’ called “liquid fertilizer,” mix it in the water, like makin’ sweet tea, but don’t drink it! Give it to ’em ’bout once a month. Or, if you forget like me, somethin’ called “slow-release,” like them pills the doctor gives you that last all day. Just push it in the dirt every few months.

Now, you gotta pick the right fertilizer. They say to test your dirt first, see what it needs. Like checkin’ if your soup needs more salt, I guess. And think about what your plants need. Some like more of this, some like more of that. And don’t be wastin’ your money on somethin’ too fancy. And be good to your soil, like bein’ good to your old cow, she give you milk, you give her love.

They got numbers on these fertilizer bags. Like 20-20-20, that’s a lot of everythin’. Like a big Sunday dinner with all the fixin’s. Or 15-15-15, that’s a little less, like a light supper. You gotta figure out how much to use, dependin’ on the numbers. Too much fertilizer can burn the plants like leavin’ food on the stove for too long, make a mess. But not enough, they won’t grow much.

They got these liquid ones too, like that Triple 10. Ten-ten-ten, that’s what they call it. Ten of each of those big things, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium. Gotta be careful with that stuff too, don’t want to overdo it, like puttin’ too much sugar in your coffee, makes it bitter.

If you got good dirt, you might not need much fertilizer. But if your dirt’s poor, like that old patch behind the shed where nothin’ grows but weeds, then you might need to help it out a bit. These all purpose fertilizers, they a good way to do that, give your plants a little boost, like a push on a swing.

Just remember, plants are like us, they need food, water, and sunshine. And a little bit of love, don’t hurt either. Talk to your plants, tell ’em they’re doin’ good, just like you would to a child. They might not understand the words, but they’ll feel the love, I reckon. These all purpose fertilizers can be used for many kinds of plants.

All purpose fertilizers for beginners: Everything you need to know

All purpose fertilizers help your garden. These are good for your vegetables. Your flowers will like these all purpose fertilizers too. When you use all purpose fertilizers, you will have good garden. All purpose fertilizers are easy to find in stores. Use all purpose fertilizers.

I remember back when we didn’t have all these fancy fertilizers. We just used what we had, manure from the animals, compost from the kitchen scraps. That worked too, but it was a lot more work, haulin’ and spreadin’ and all that. These days, it’s easier, I guess. But sometimes I wonder if the old ways weren’t better, closer to nature, you know? Still, these all purpose fertilizers, they do the job, and that’s what matters, I reckon.
