DIY terra cotta plant stands project using simple steps

Alright, today I wanna share how I made these super simple terra cotta plant stands after seeing expensive ones online. Total cost was under fifteen bucks!

Stuff I gathered

  • Three small terra cotta pots per stand (got ’em at the dollar store)
  • All-purpose construction adhesive (the thick white goo kind)
  • Painter’s tape (for holding things while drying)
  • Cheap acrylic paint for color

First step: Cleaned all pots real good with soapy water since they were dusty. Laid out towels on my kitchen table – this got messy later but whatever.

Starting assembly: Took one pot and flipped it upside down. Squirted a fat circle of glue on the bottom. Smooshed the second pot’s rim straight onto it, pressing hard for like thirty seconds. Immediately wrapped painter’s tape around the joint to hold it tight. Repeated with third pot on top.

The waiting game

Left the tape on overnight. Next morning, poked at the joints – felt solid! Ripped off the tape. Had this cool tower thing going.

Painting time: Did two coats with acrylic paint, drying between coats. Tried leaving one natural terra cotta color cause I’m lazy like that.

Finished product

Plonked my tiny succulents in each level. Weighed down the bottom pot with some rocks so it doesn’t tip. They’re sitting on my windowsill now catching sun. Whole project took maybe forty minutes active work plus drying time. Easy peasy!
