Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with these 5 blade scissors lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I saw these things online – you know, those scissors with five blades stacked together – and I thought, “Hey, that looks pretty neat for chopping up herbs and stuff.” So, I got myself a pair. I think I ordered them from that big online store, you know the one. I can’t quite recall the brand, but I remember it started with a “K” or something. Maybe Kai, or was it Heinkles? Anyway, doesn’t really matter.
First off, these things are kinda hefty. You can tell they’re made with a bunch of stainless steel, which is good ’cause they feel sturdy. When they arrived, I immediately wanted to try them out. I had a bunch of parsley that needed chopping for a pasta sauce I was making.

- The first snip: I grabbed a bunch of parsley and started snipping. It was a bit awkward at first. You gotta get used to the five blades cutting at once. It’s not like your regular scissors.
- Getting the hang of it: After a few tries, I started to get the hang of it. You kind of have to use a rocking motion, almost like you’re mincing, but with scissors. I tried to cut some scallions, too.
- Chop, chop, chop: It was actually pretty satisfying to see all those little pieces fall onto the cutting board. It definitely was faster than using a knife, especially for something like parsley.
So, I’ve used them a few times now. I tried them on some other herbs, like cilantro and dill, with similar results. One time, I even used them to shred some lettuce for a salad. They worked, but maybe it was a bit overkill for that. And the other day, I used them to cut some nori for my ramen, and they worked pretty well.
Cleaning them is kind of a pain, though. You gotta make sure to get all the little bits of herbs out from between the blades. I found that using a little brush helps. A toothpick also works if you don’t have a brush. I just use dish soap, water, and make sure to dry them off good so they don’t rust.
Here’s the thing, these scissors are not perfect. Like, I wouldn’t use them for everything. If I’m cutting something big or tough, I’d still use my chef’s knife. But for herbs and maybe some thin veggies, they’re pretty handy. I guess it’s a useful thing to have in the kitchen, especially if you’re like me and use a lot of fresh herbs in your cooking.
They’re not life-changing or anything, but they do what they’re supposed to do. I’m still experimenting with them, trying to figure out what they’re best for. Maybe I’ll try them on some paper or something, just to see what happens. It says online I can, so why not?
Overall, I’d say these 5 blade scissors are a decent buy. They’re not too expensive, and they can save you some time when you’re prepping ingredients. Just don’t expect them to replace your entire knife set. They’re more like a specialized tool, you know? They’re fun to use, though, and they make you feel like a bit of a kitchen ninja. Just be careful with those blades, they are pretty sharp!
I heard some people online talking about a brand called Chef’sChoice or something that makes good herb scissors. Maybe I’ll check those out sometime, too. But for now, I’m pretty happy with my 5 blade scissors. I’ll keep using them and see what else I can chop up. I’m just a regular dude who likes to cook, so don’t take my word as gospel, but for what it’s worth, these are pretty neat!
